The job doesn't stop once the fire is out...
FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Reaching out to community leaders and charitable organizations like the Marion Therapeutic Riders Association is but a small portion of the privilege we have of being a large union. There are always volunteers ready and willing to get involved in charitable events such as this. We strive to take an active role in our community, and we are always looking for opportunities to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
Through the Marion County Firefighters Benevolence Fund, our 501 c3, we raise money and partner with many local charities.
We have three annual fundraisers: a 5k run, a fishing tournament, and a golf tournament. Click here to find out more.
GETTING AN EARLY START ON FIRE SAFETY.
GETTING TO KNOW THE CITIZENS WE SERVE.
Lights flashing, sirens wailing, water spraying and engines running. There are few things more exciting to a child then a firetruck, but when the chips are down and the emergency is real there are fewer things that can be more terrifying then a stranger in a smoke filled house. This is why MFCR firefighters actively participate in educating our youngsters. We regularly visit schools to talk to our future leaders and educate them on what to do in case of an emergency. Here we can see one of our bravest fully donned in bunker gear reaching out to the excited faces of elementary children. This allows them to become familiar with our appearance and is also a great opportunity for them to explore and ask questions. They are our future, and we will continue to protect them.
Holding an event like the one pictured above is another way for us as firefighters to get out and be with the community. So if you smell our grill cooking some tasty hamburgers or our smoker slow cooking some savory ribs, don’t be shy, come over and grab a bite! We are always interested in getting to know the people we serve.
